As I continue to work with watercolor "ground", a viscous medium typically used to correct mistakes, I came up with the idea of dipping string, or rope, in the ground and laying that across a sheet of watercolor paper. This idea had been rattling around in my head for several weeks and I finally found the time to create the first one, simply called "String Art 1."

I showed this painting off to visitors who came to my open studio event yesterday, and it was very much well received, enough for me to create a collection called String Art.

String Art 1 will become the first in a collection of four. I am anticipating that I will use the above-mentioned ground, called Iridescent Gold, as well as the other ground I have called Pearlescent White. I am anticipating that together the collection will look very dramatic.
