Abstract Rainstorm

$990.00

This painting, Abstract Rainstorm, is the 3rd painting where I used the "ground" from a major online art supply store. This ground is very viscous and dries within 24 hours. The purpose of the ground is to cover mistakes on your watercolor painting, allow it to dry, then paint over it. Instead of using this ground to cover mistakes, I came up with the idea of using it in the artwork itself. My intention was to create a watercolor painting, that is typically flat, with some depth. This effect was achieved with the ground.

I didn't have a lot of ground left after completing Abstract Ribbon, and Melting, so I decided to use it for the cloud cover. I used Iridescent Antique Silver and Pearlescent White for the "rain." Using these two colors gives the rain a shimmering effect. To see the shimmer effect, the painting will need to be near light where it can reflect it.

This is a rainstorm that would be considered a deluge in real life. The fact that I am a watercolor artist gave rise to creating a rain-like painting.

I am extremely happy with the outcome and hope you enjoy it as well. I kept the hills at a minimum so that the focus is on the shimmery rain.

I hope this painting finds a home with you in either your home or office. It would be be quite a conversation piece, indeed!
