GLASS ROCKS
GLASS ROCKSThis painting was inspired by glass rocks found at Glass Beach State Park in Northern California. There were once factories that made glass in the area. Molten glass would fall (or be dumped) into the ocean and the waves and tide would roll over the glass and turned it into rocks. Unfortunately, quite a bit of the glass rocks have been taken over the years.
MELTING
MELTINGWith this piece, Melting, I decided to be more judicious with the watercolor “ground,” covering only part of the paper. Not knowing exactly how it would look, I made arches across the paper. After I decided on the colors I was going to use, I realized that the ground looked like it was melting. And the idea for this painting was born.
A FIELD OF PURPLE
A FIELD OF PURPLERecently, I painted a small picture of lavender flowers. It was so well received that I decided to paint a large one. However, after working the painting several times, I realized that there were different looking flowers then lavender. So I decided to paint various purple flowers, which is why I call it A Field of Purple. It is very abstract and bold in color. It would beautiful in a black frame, which will make the colors stand out even more.
